Herbarium (WABG) is one of the important Garden scientific collections. It was established in 2002 and holds herbarium specimens documenting both the Garden collections and field research and expeditions of the University of Warsaw Botanic Garden staff members. At present the Herbarium includes approx. 6,000 herbarium sheets, chiefly of native and alien trees and shrubs, Polish vascular flora, SW Asiatic and Mediterranean plants. In a large part the specimens’ descriptions have been digitalized and are available via our Index Plantarum webpage. The Herbarium collections are available for scientific studies on site or for loan via public herbaria included in the Index Herbariorum or other well established scientific institutions.
